Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHPs) are large loop pipes that are buried below the ground in the garden to efficiently extract heat from under the ground. This heat is then used to heat hot water within the property, radiators and underfloor or warm air heating systems.
Heat pumps are a perfect renewable alternative due to the ground remaining at a fairly consistent temperature throughout the year, which results in a reliable stream of extracted fluid available to be passed through the heat exchanger and into the heat pump directly from the ground.
The lengths of the looped pipes can vary dependent upon the size of the property that needs to be heated, therefore the larger the property, the larger the loops will be needed to provide sufficient heat. If space is limited within the garden area, a vertical borehole can be drilled as an alternative to horizontal loops of pipes.

"After discovering the bottom part of some of my radiators were never getting warm, I rang Viva Gas for some advice. They were very helpful and sent out an engineer straight away who power flushed my central heating system. It’s now working like it is brand new." - Mrs Swallow
